Social media strategy begins with having a comprehensive understanding of your brand, your goals, and your target audience. Who are you? What do you stand for? What are you hoping to achieve through social media? By answering these questions first, you can then create a clear roadmap for yourself.

And behind your social media strategy is your content strategy. This is where you decide what you are going to share and how you are going to share it. Your content has to align with your brand’s voice and values.

  • Platform selection: Each platform is different. They can vary between the different types of content they allow, and the different audiences that show up. So when it comes to your strategy, you need to know where your audience hangs out, and what they like to see on each platform. Strategies need to be platform specific. You don’t have to be on every single platform out there. Just make sure to show up where your audience is showing up.

  • Be consistent and authentic: Regular posting and being consistent with posting helps to keep your audience engaged, and also shows that you are a reliable source who is dedicated to your business. It doesn’t really matter how frequently you post, as long as you are consistent in your posting so that your audience comes to know what to expect from you. Being authentic is also a top priority. It’s important your audience knows you and sees you as a trustworthy resource. So engage, listen to your audience, respond, and show them some personal and authentic glimpses of who you are.

  • Measure your efforts: If you aren’t measuring and tracking how things are performing, you can’t know if what you are doing is working or not. Use available analytics tools to measure the performance of your content. This way you can better tailor your strategy to your business and audience resulting in better engagement and ultimately more sales
